Kristian Story Wines first began with 18 acres on the family estate located in the heart of Napa Valley’s best growing region for Cabernet Sauvignon.  The meticulously cared for St. Helena Appellation, yields some of the most intense fruit from its 101-14 rootstock. The estate vineyard is divided into five blocks.

Kristian Story Wines’ Cabernet Sauvignon, originate from “Blocks 1 and 4” totaling nine-acres, planted in 1997 and 2001, with the same Cabernet Sauvignon budwood clones “See” and “Backus”, as that of Spottswoode Estate Vineyard & Winery and Joseph Phelps Vineyards respectively. The soils on these blocks are remarkably rocky and well-draining, allowing for intense, richly textured, and concentrated fruit to be cultivated.

For our Merlots and Chardonnays, we have chosen the cooler growing areas of Napa Valley and Sonoma Valley.  Merlot thrives in the cooler area of Yountville.  Chardonnay requires the coolest conditions of all varietals we grow, thus for our Chardonnays we have gone to the most sought after growing region for this varietal, that being Sonoma’s Los Carneros appellation.
